Birla Group will increase investment in Bengal, met Shamik

On Sunday, a meeting was held between BJP State President Shamik Bhattacharya and Aditya Birla Group Chairperson Kumar Mangalam Birla regarding the investment of Aditya Birla Group and expansion of existing plants in West Bengal.

After the meeting, Shamik Bhattacharya said that during the conversation, there was discussion about Birla Group’s investment in West Bengal and expansion of its existing plants.

He said that Kumar Mangalam Birla has shown interest in increasing investment and expanding his industrial activities in Bengal.

According to Shamik Bhattacharya, after the change of government, he had written a letter to Kumar Mangalam Birla urging him to increase investment in West Bengal.

He had said that efforts are being made to create a favorable environment for industry and investment in the state and the Birla Group should also expand its activities in Bengal.

After this, a positive reply was received from Kumar Mangalam Birla and a meeting took place between the two on Sunday.

Shamik said that the meeting was positive and the possibilities of expansion of Birla Group’s existing business and plants in West Bengal were discussed.

He said that the Birla family has a long association with West Bengal and apart from business activities, the family also has a presence in the state at social and institutional levels.

Shamik also said that in the past, due to labor agitation and industrial conditions, Aditya Vikram Birla had to shift his office to Mumbai, although the Birla family’s connection with Bengal did not completely end.

Shamik Bhattacharya told that Kumar Mangalam Birla is likely to meet Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari. He said that he himself has requested Birla to meet the Chief Minister and Birla is also willing to meet the Chief Minister.

The proposed meeting is likely to discuss issues related to new investment in West Bengal, expansion of existing industries and promotion of industrial activities in the state.

After Sunday’s meeting, Shamik Bhattacharya said that Aditya Birla Group has shown interest in investment and expansion in Bengal. Now the possible meeting with the Chief Minister is being considered as an important next step in this direction.
