A policy dialogue on the topic “Strengthening of horticulture value chains in Madhya Pradesh” is being organized in Bhopal today (Monday) by Madhya Pradesh State Niti Aayog in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing.
Giving information, Public Relations Officer Anil Vashishtha said that the program will be held from 10 am in the discussion hall of MPT Hotel Palash Residency.
In this, the overall development of the horticulture sector will be discussed by policy makers, subject experts, financial institutions, industry representatives, farmer producer organizations and representatives of voluntary organizations.
He told that Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh State NITI Aayog, Swarochish Somvanshi will give the welcome address in the program. Shriman Shukla, Secretary, Planning, Economic and Statistics Department will give the opening address.
Vice President of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, Prof. There will be a special address by Rajiv Dixit and Agricultural Production Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Horticulture and Food Processing KC Gupta.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Horticulture and Food Processing Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Suman will give a presentation on the topic “Madhya Pradesh Horticulture-2026: Shortcomings of District Classification, Commodity Cluster and Value Chain”.
Aamir Manan Deva, Advisor, Institute of Good Governance and Policy Analysis, will present on building competitive horticulture value chains from production to prosperity and Nishant Bansod, Regional Head, APEDA, will present on value addition, processing, branding and access to global markets.
Niti Samvaad will have three panel discussions. In the first discussion, there will be discussion on the possibilities of horticulture value chains of Madhya Pradesh, in the second discussion on convergence of financial resources, schemes, technology and private investment for modern agriculture and in the third discussion, there will be discussion on accelerating horticulture development through processing, value addition and market linkage.
Representatives of APEDA, National Horticulture Board, MPIDC, NABARD, Central Bank, WRI-India, Parle Agro, Dabur, Jain Irrigation, Agro-Technical Institutes, Mahila Farmer Producer Company and various voluntary organizations will participate in the discussions.
In the open discussion, representatives of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Central Agricultural Engineering Institute, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department and Horticulture and Food Processing Department will present their suggestions. At the conclusion of the program, Dr. Akanksha Chand, advisor to the State NITI Aayog, will present the future action plan.
