Jaipur. The weather has once again taken a turn in the last days of September in Rajasthan. Due to the influence of Western Disturbance and cyclonic circulation from the Bay of Bengal, the period of rain and hailstorm has started with cloud cover in many parts of the state. On Saturday, rain along with hail fell in many areas including Mandana in Kota district and Mohangarh in Jaisalmer. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 16 districts of the state on Sunday.
Light rain occurred in parts of Nagaur, Tonk, Dungarpur, Sirohi, Jhunjhunu and Jalore on Saturday. There was movement of clouds in Sawai Madhopur, Tonk, Bundi, Baran, Jhalawar and Kota in the afternoon. A sudden change in the weather was felt due to hailstorm in the night in Jaisalmer district including Mohangarh, Hamirnada and surrounding areas.
Due to rain and clouds, the temperature dropped in most parts of the state. Due to the weak western disturbance active over western Rajasthan, the wind direction changed and the maximum temperature came down to five degrees in many cities. The maximum drop in temperature occurred in Sirohi, where the maximum temperature came down by about 10 degrees. However, on Saturday, the highest temperature in the state was measured at 40.5 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer.
According to the Meteorological Department report, there was 6 mm rain in Jhunjhunu, 5 mm rain in Suhagpura of Pratapgarh, 1.5 mm rain in Sangaria of Hanumangarh and 1 mm rain in Mundwa of Nagaur. 0.5-0.5 mm rainfall was also measured in Jalore, Dungarpur and Mount Abu. This change in weather has brought relief to the people from the scorching heat of the past few days. However, the temperature still remains relatively high in western Rajasthan.
