Morigaon (Assam). The search continues for the second day today for two people who drowned in the Brahmaputra river in Mohmari Pathar area of Lahorighat police station area under Morigaon district. SDRF team is continuously conducting operations in search of one woman and one man.
According to the incident, Lahorighat police station received information around 7 pm on Sunday night that a handmade boat had overturned in the Mohmari Pathar area of the Brahmaputra river. Police teams from Lahorighat and Bheloguri police station reached the spot. Meanwhile, Moirabari SDRF team also reached the spot after receiving the information.
Initial investigation revealed that a handmade boat carrying 11 people was crossing the Brahmaputra river from the nearby Char (island in the middle of the river) area. Meanwhile the boat overturned in the river. 7 people were immediately rescued after the incident. The other two people were saved. Despite extensive search, two people could not be traced. Among the rescued people, the condition of four people was considered serious and they were immediately admitted to the hospital. Where he is undergoing treatment.
The people missing in the accident have been identified as Afia Khatoon (28, village Betabori, Morigaon) and Saidul Islam (58, village Bolobari, Morigaon).
