Aichi-Nagoya. Indian boxer Parveen Hooda has made it to the finals of the women’s 65 kg category at the Asian Games 2026. In the semi-finals played at Nishio Gymnasium on Tuesday, Parveen defeated Li Shu of China by a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Parveen maintained her dominance in all three rounds of the match. He boxed aggressively from the beginning and did not give Li Shu much chance to make a comeback. The judges unanimously awarded the match in favor of the Indian boxer.
With this victory, Parveen has confirmed her silver medal and now she will face Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei for the gold medal on Friday.
Parveen had earlier defeated Navbahor Khamidova of Uzbekistan 5-0 in the quarter-finals. Khamidova is the 2025 World Championships silver medalist. Earlier, Parveen had got a walkover in the initial round.
Parveen had won a bronze medal in the last Asian Games. However, he was later stripped of that medal due to violation of Whereabouts rules between April 2022 and March 2023.
After completing his suspension, he returned in late 2025 by winning a gold medal at the World Boxing Cup Finals. After this, in the Commonwealth Games, he had to face defeat in a close match against Sacha Hickey in the preliminary match.
The Indian boxing team had won four medals in the last Hangzhou Asian Games, which included one silver and three bronze. This time many Indian boxers have reached the medal round.
Ankush Panghal in men’s 80 kg category and Narendra Berwal in men’s above 90 kg category have also reached the semi-finals. Other players of the Indian boxing team are also in the race for medals in different categories.
