Neeru Dhanda confirmed her place in the final of eight shooters. He, along with a competitor from Qatar, scored 118 points, which is a new record in the Asian Games. In this competition, India's Ashima Ahlawat stood 16th and Manisha Keer stood 23rd, so they could not move ahead. However, Niru continued his brilliant performance and did not jump without winning the gold medal for the country.

Neeru Dhanda had earlier played an important role in winning the silver medal for India in the women's trap team competition in the Asian Games held at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. In the final match, Niru once again performed brilliantly and scored a score of 28. On the other hand, China's Sun Yunong could score only 26 points and won the silver medal, while Hazar Abdul Malik, who scored 21 points, had to be satisfied with the bronze medal.
26 year old Neeru Dhanda from Haryana has won the World Cup gold medal in 'Trap' competition. He won the gold medal by recording a score of 28 in the Shotgun World Cup held in Italy in July. Along with this, he also broke the long standing Asian record of 24 points. Prior to this, no Indian woman shooter had ever won a gold medal in the individual trap and skeet events at the Asian Games.
Among men, Ranadhir Singh won a historic gold medal in the trap event at the 1978 Asian Games. On the other hand, Ronjan Sodhi won the individual gold medal for India in the double trap event at the 2010 Asian Games.
