New Delhi. An important meeting of INDIA block of opposition parties is going to be held in Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting is likely to discuss the opposition’s future strategy regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) and differences that have emerged within the Election Commission.
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav will not attend the meeting. Another leader from the party will participate in the meeting in his place. SP has told that Akhilesh Yadav will attend the farmers’ conference organized in Lucknow on 30 September. According to the party, they have also talked to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge regarding this program.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal has also said that Akhilesh will not be able to attend the meeting due to previously scheduled programs. He also mentioned the busyness related to nomination for Rajya Sabha elections.
Uddhav Thackeray will join video conferencing
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will attend the meeting through video conferencing. According to party MP Sanjay Raut, the party is busy preparing for the proposed protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on October 2. He told that Shiv Sena (UBT) will support this demonstration.
Many big opposition leaders may be included
Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are likely to attend the INDIA block meeting from the Congress side. Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and MP Abhishek Banerjee are also expected to attend the meeting.
Apart from this, information has come to light about Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and CPI (M) General Secretary MA Baby attending the meeting.
In the meeting, opposition parties can discuss their further strategy on issues related to SIR process, voter lists and Election Commission.
