Chandigarh. The newly formed state team of Kisan Morcha of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting with state party president Kewal Singh Dhillon here on Saturday. Dhillon said the party promises to ensure minimum support price (MSP) for all crops in Punjab, like the Haryana government.
While giving guidance to the newly appointed office bearers, Dhillon urged them to work with dedication and commitment for the party. He said that the bad policies of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government have pushed Punjab towards economic crisis and the concerns of the farmers are being ignored. Punjab’s prosperity is possible only when its farmers are prosperous.
Criticizing the AAP government, Dhillon said the party had promised before the elections that it would ensure MSP for all crops within five minutes of coming to power. However, the state BJP president said that in the last four and a half years, the AAP government has failed to fulfill its promises made to farmers. Dhillon said the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking several steps for the welfare of farmers.
He further said that the Central Government is giving Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat and paddy to the farmers of Punjab, while financial assistance is being given to the farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Subsidy is also being given on urea fertilizer and a bag worth about Rs 2,800 is being sold to farmers for Rs 266. Dhillon said that the BJP government in Haryana is giving minimum support (MSP) to all crops and if the BJP government is formed in Punjab, it will implement MSP on all crops including fruits and vegetables.
He said that the proposed policy will provide more assistance to the farmers and strengthen the agricultural sector of the state. Urging the Kisan Morcha officials to increase contact, Dhillon asked them to take the farmer-friendly policies and initiatives of the Narendra Modi government to every village and household. He stressed the need to inform the farmers about the schemes and measures being run for their welfare. In the meeting, the state team of Kisan Morcha led by state president Lakhwinder Singh Dhillon and assured him that the organization will work to strengthen the BJP at every level.
