Cruiser Bike: Harley-Davidson has released the first official teaser of its new motorcycle Sprint 440 for the Indian market. This new bike of the company can be introduced in the 440cc segment. In the teaser, its design looks different from the current Harley-Davidson X440 and has a more traditional cruiser style. It is expected to be specifically designed keeping in mind those riders who prefer a comfortable riding position and classic cruiser looks. Like the X440, the new Sprint 440 will also be manufactured in India in partnership with Hero MotoCorp.
Sprint 440 will come with classic cruiser design
In the teaser, the design of the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 looks very much like a traditional cruiser motorcycle. It has round headlamps, raised handlebar and inclined towards the rider, oval rear-view mirror and circular instrument console mounted on a bracket above the headlamp.
Apart from this, the bike has a teardrop designed fuel tank, one-piece seat with a scooped section for the rider and round turn indicators. It also has alloy wheels, horizontal exhaust and dual rear shock absorbers. All these elements make it look more like a classic cruiser than the X440.
Riding position will be different from X440
The new Sprint 440 is expected to pay special attention to the comfortable riding position. According to the teaser, it can get a low seat height and rear handlebar. This allows the rider to have a more relaxed riding stance over long distances.
In comparison, the Harley-Davidson X440 has a roadster style riding position and its seat height is 805mm. However, official information related to seat height and other ergonomics of Sprint 440 has not been revealed yet.
There may be changes in chassis and suspension
Harley-Davidson has not yet shared complete details about the chassis and suspension of the Sprint 440. However, in the teaser its rear shock absorbers appear to be more inclined than those of the X440. Changes are also likely to be made in the rear subframe and wheel size of the bike to suit the cruiser style and riding dynamics.
These changes may be aimed at giving the bike a traditional cruiser-like look and riding experience. Its actual technical details will be revealed only after the official disclosure by the company.
Expected to get X440 engine
Talking about the engine, the Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 can be given a 440cc single-cylinder, air and oil-cooled engine like the X440. This engine in Harley-Davidson X440 generates maximum power of 27 bhp and peak torque of 38 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
However, it is not yet clear whether the company will make any changes in the engine tuning for the Sprint 440 or it will get the same power and torque output as the X440. The launch date, price and other technical details of the bike are yet to be revealed.
