A blast on Dhanteras: This year the holy festival of Dhanteras has brought a triple gift of happiness for the markets and investors across the country. While on one hand the tremendous rise in the stock market made the investors happy, on the other hand the huge fall in the prices of gold and silver gave relief to the buyers. Not only this, foreign institutional investors (FIIs), who had been staying away from the Indian market for a long time, have also made a strong comeback. Sensex jumped 1,718 points in a single trading day and Nifty also crossed 25,000. The special thing is that the Indian stock market registered a rise for the seventh consecutive trading session.
Stormy rise in stock market, Sensex crosses 81 thousand
On the day of Dhanteras, investors made huge purchases in the stock market. The market got excellent support due to strong buying in big shares of banking and financial sector. At the end of trading on Friday, the Sensex closed at 81,028.02 with a rise of 1,718.01 points or 2.17 percent. At the same time, Nifty jumped by 493.75 points or 2.01 percent and reached the level of 25,030.35. With this rise, Nifty crossed the important level of 25,000 for the first time after 27 February 2026. Apart from this, this was also the highest closing level of Nifty in the last nine months. The special thing is that the Indian stock market has been rising for seven consecutive trading sessions. After almost three years, the market has seen such a trend of registering gains for seven consecutive sessions.
Strong return of foreign investors, invested Rs 14,974 crore
Buying by foreign investors was also a major reason behind this rise in the Indian stock market. Foreign institutional investors i.e. FIIs were net buyers in the Indian stock market for the fifth consecutive trading session. These investors purchased Rs 14,974 crore in Indian shares during this period. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) booked profits. According to the data, domestic institutional investors made a net sale of shares worth Rs 10,444 crore. That is, while domestic investors were withdrawing profits, foreign investors were investing new money in the Indian market. According to experts, along with the return of foreign investors in the market, better quarterly results of companies have also increased the confidence of investors. Better than expected growth in companies’ earnings is giving a strong basis to the market’s rise.
Big fall in gold and silver prices, relief to buyers
Buying gold and silver on Dhanteras is considered auspicious. In such a situation, the customers have got relief from the fall in the prices of both the precious metals. On Friday, the prices of both gold and silver fell on the domestic futures market i.e. Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX). Gold for December delivery fell by about Rs 1,900 and was seen trading at Rs 1,42,150 per 10 grams. At the same time, the price of silver fell by about Rs 2,900 and its price reached Rs 1,84,210 per kg. This fall can benefit those people who are planning to buy gold and silver jewellery, coins or other products. However, making charges and other charges should also be kept in mind while buying jewellery.
Gold and silver also weak in international market
There was pressure on the prices of gold and silver in the domestic market as well as in the international market. On Friday, the price of gold on Comex fell 1.31 percent to $ 4,059.90 an ounce. Similarly, silver prices also recorded a weakness of 1.41 percent. After this, silver was seen trading at $ 51.640 per ounce in the international market. After the rise on Thursday, selling was seen again in both the precious metals on Friday.
What is the reason behind the rise in the Indian market?
According to market experts, buying in banking and financial shares, continuous return of foreign investors and better results of companies have strengthened the Indian stock market. Apart from this, due to the new trend of investing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) related stocks across the world, investors are also investing money in other sectors.
