Minnu Mani and Nikki Prasad led a spirited chase as India-A beat Australia-A by four wickets in another high-scoring encounter at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday. The win helped India seal the one-day series 2-1.
Australia A elected to bat and found themselves in a spot of bother when Vaishnavi Sharma removed openers Rachel Trenaman and Tahlia Wilson in the span of four balls in the 13th over.
Courtney Webb (92-ball 95) and Charlie Knott (70-ball 109) then stitched a crucial 166-run stand for the third wicket in just 119 balls to hep the visitors consolidate. When Knott fell to Nikki, Webb continued with the Aussie middle order to set up a competitive score of 362/9 in 50 overs.
Vaishnavi (4/48) and Nikki (4/84) were the pick of the bowlers for India which India fielded seven options.
Tanisha Singh (60 off 58) and Vrinda Dinesh got India off to an assured start with a 67-run opening stand. While Tejal Hasabnis and Uma Chetry couldn’t add much to the score, skipper Anushka Sharma (58 off 42), Minnu (88 off 56) and Nikki (76 off 71) dominated the chase to carry the home side to a win with 10 balls to spare.
