Big blow to Arvind Kejriwal: Rajya Sabha Chairman approved 7 rebel AAP MPs to join BJP, number of BJP MPs in the House increased to 113.

7 Rebel AAP MP join BJP: Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party i.e. AAP have suffered a big blow. Rajya Sabha Chairman has given approval to 7 rebel AAP MPs including Raghav Chadha and Harbhajan Singh to join BJP. The names of AAP MPs who have joined BJP are Ashok Kumar Mittal, Raghav Chadha, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Kumar Pathak, Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Swati Maliwal and Rajinder Gupta.

Rajya Sabha has accepted 7 rebel MPs of Aam Aadmi Party as MPs of BJP. Rajya Sabha Secretariat has also issued a notification regarding this. This is a big blow for Arvind Kejriwal. Including 7 rebel MPs, the number of BJP MPs in Rajya Sabha has now reached 113.

Minister Kiren Rijiju welcomed the decision

After 7 rebel AAP MPs got NOC from Rajya Sabha, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that Honorable Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan has approved the merger of 7 AAP MPs with BJP. Now, Raghav Chadha ji, Sandeep Pathak ji, Ashok Mittal ji, Harbhajan Singh ji, Swati Maliwal ji, Rajinder Gupta ji and Vikramjit Singh Sahni ji are members of BJP Parliamentary Party. I have observed for a long time that these 7 honorable MPs never abused nor did any indiscipline or un-parliamentary acts. Welcome to the nation building NDA under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi ji and goodbye to the Tukde Tukde India alliance.

7 MPs including Raghav Chadha had left AAP

Let us tell you that on April 24, 2026, Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal had announced to leave the Aam Aadmi Party in a press conference. In the press conference, Raghav had informed about joining BJP. He also claimed the support of all the MPs along with him. He had claimed that Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Vikram Sahni and Rajinder Gupta were also with him. Of the 7 who left the party, 6 are Rajya Sabha members from Punjab. While one is from Delhi.

AAP had written a letter to the Vice President

Here in this matter, Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh had written a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan. In the letter, Sanjay Singh had demanded disqualification of the seven MPs who left AAP. It was written in the letter – This MP was elected to the Upper House on the Aam Aadmi Party ticket, but later he decided to leave the party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This step taken by your seven MPs is tantamount to defection. This is a betrayal of the people of Punjab and the Constitution of India.
