Nagoya (Japan). India has increased its medal count for the third day by winning the third medal in the 20th Asian Games. Indian shooters performed brilliantly and won the silver medal in the men's 10 meter air rifle team event. Along with this, all three medals won by India so far in the Asian Games have come from the shooting range.
From the Indian side, the team of Parth Rakesh Mane, former world champion Rudranksh Patil and young shooter Himanshu Dhillon stood second by scoring a total of 1890.1 points. China won the gold medal with 1899.9 points, while South Korea got the bronze medal.
Rudranksh and Himanshu also made it to the individual finals
Apart from winning the silver medal in the team event, Rudranksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon have also secured a place in the individual finals of men's 10 meter air rifle.
Rudranksh Patil stood third in the qualification by scoring 631.8 marks. Himanshu Dhillon stood seventh with 630.0 points and entered the finals.
On the other hand, Parth Rakesh Mane finished 11th with 628.3 points and was out of the race for the individual finals.
From Rudranksh to Himanshu, know the trio that won silver
Rudraksh Patil
Rudranksh Patil from Thane, Maharashtra has won gold medals in individual and team events at the 2022 Cairo World Championships. He is the second Indian shooter after Abhinav Bindra to win an individual world title. Rudraksh has also been world number-1.
Parth Rakesh Mane
Parth Mane won the gold medal in the ISSF Junior World Championship held in Lima, Peru in 2024 and became the Junior World Champion.
Himanshu Dhillon
Himanshu Dhillon had won two gold and one bronze medal in the 2025 Junior World Cup. Apart from this, he won two gold medals in the 2026 Asian Championship. He is among the emerging talented rifle shooters of India.
Sutirtha defeated Pakistani player in table tennis
In table tennis, Sutirtha Mukherjee defeated Pakistan's Alina Khan in women's singles category. In the first set of the match, the Indian player won 11-3. The Indian men's table tennis team will face Pakistan at 3:30 pm.
India defeated Japan in Sepkatkara
The Indian men's team started their campaign with a win in Sepkatkara. India got off to a great start by defeating hosts Japan in straight sets.
Suchika confirmed another medal in MMA
In mixed martial arts, Suchika Tariyal has ensured another medal for India by making it to the semi-finals of the women's traditional 60 kg category. Now his eyes will be on changing the color of the medal by reaching the finals.
Srihari Nataraj made it to the swimming finals
India's top swimmer Srihari Nataraj has made it to the final of the men's 50 meter backstroke event. He clocked 25.37 seconds in the heat. Whereas Rishabh Das recorded a time of 25.41 seconds and became the first reserve swimmer by finishing 10th.
India's challenge in hockey, kabaddi and boxing also
The women's hockey team will face Indonesia in Pool-B. The Indian team had defeated Uzbekistan 19-0 in its first match.
In Kabaddi, the Indian men's team will play against Japan and the women's team will play against Bangladesh. In badminton, the Indian men's team will face Bangladesh in the first round.
In the round of 32 of 70 kg boxing category, Sumit will face Sinsiri Bunjong of Thailand.
India is continuously getting medals from shooting
Shooting has proved to be the most successful sport for India so far in the Asian Games 2026. On the third day, all three of India's medals, including the silver for the men's 10m air rifle team, came from shooting. India's medal hopes in shooting remain intact with Rudranksh Patil and Himanshu Dhillon reaching the individual finals.
