Asian Games 2026: Saturday was a great day for India in the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Japan. In Kabaddi, India won the gold medal by defeating Iran in the finals of both men and women categories. The women's team won the match 37-33, while the men's team defeated Iran 40-34.

The women's team maintained the lead under pressure throughout the match and won the title on the basis of excellent defense in the last moments. India faced difficulty in the beginning in the men's final. Iran was leading 18-17 at halftime, but in the second half the Indian team made a comeback and changed the direction of the match. Sumit's crucial tackle and Arjun Deshwal's raiding played a big role in India's victory.
Apart from Kabaddi, India also created history in Squash. 18-year-old Anahat Singh defeated world number-6 Satomi Watanabe of Japan 3-2 and made it to the final of women's singles. Anahat was trailing 0-2 at one point, but made a great comeback by winning three consecutive games. Abhay Singh entered the men's singles final by defeating Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan 3-0.
There was a big achievement for India in athletics also. Sawan Barwal won the silver medal in men's marathon with a timing of 2 hours 11 minutes 37 seconds. With this medal, India's 44-year wait in the men's marathon of the Asian Games ended. Earlier, India had won a medal in this event in the 1982 Delhi Asiad.
