Greater Noida. Uttar Pradesh will no longer be limited to becoming only the center of electronics manufacturing, but is moving rapidly towards becoming the leading state of the country in the field of AI, semiconductor, electronics, technology and innovation. Uttar Pradesh is moving towards becoming the next growth engine of the country. Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad said this while addressing the session 'UP's Journey from Electronics Leader to AI and Semiconductor Powerhouse'.

He said that the day is not far when Uttar Pradesh's name will figure prominently in the discussion on investment in the country and the world. He said that the government aims to make Uttar Pradesh a major hub of technology, innovation, research and manufacturing and for this, the necessary ecosystem is being rapidly created in the state.
Jitin Prasad said that change is clearly visible in Uttar Pradesh under the national vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A double engine government with better coordination between the Center and the state is accelerating this change. He said that technology and trade are two important engines of the country's development journey and Uttar Pradesh can achieve new heights through them.
Technology expansion beyond Noida to entire UP
The Union Minister said that now the effort is not to limit investment only to Noida, but to create opportunities for electronics and technology in other parts of Uttar Pradesh as well. The youth of the state will directly benefit from this. He said that big investments like Samsung and Yota, data centres, AI labs and other technology infrastructure present a picture of the new ecosystem being created in Uttar Pradesh. The government's effort is to develop the entire value chain in the state, from design to semiconductor components, electronic manufacturing and export.

UP will move from assembly to component manufacturing
Jitin Prasad said that India will no longer be a country that only assembles products. The country is moving towards component manufacturing through initiatives like Electronic Components Manufacturing Scheme. Uttar Pradesh can play an important role in this change. He said that the world already recognizes India's design capability and talent. Now there is a need to add manufacturing capacity to this strength. Manufacturing semiconductor and electronic products in Uttar Pradesh and supplying them to domestic and global markets is an important part of this vision.
Take advantage of government help, but become self-reliant industries
The Union Minister gave a clear message to the industry that government incentives and subsidies are a means to accelerate growth, but the long-term success of industries will depend on their own competitiveness. The government can provide land, policies, approvals and facilities, but industries will ultimately have to become competitive and self-sustaining.
He said that the Government of Uttar Pradesh is working actively and with good governance, understanding the needs of the industries. It is important to provide a safe and stable policy environment to investors so that they can take long-term decisions.

AI will increase productivity of MSMEs
Jitin Prasad said that Uttar Pradesh should use AI not just to adopt technology, but to increase productivity, efficiency and cost competitiveness. He said that if an MSME reduces its costs or increases productivity through AI, then this will be the real benefit of the technology.
He stressed the need to prepare youth as AI innovators, researchers and adopters. Also emphasized on strong coordination between research institutes and industries including IIT Kanpur. The Union Minister said that this is an important period of opportunity for Uttar Pradesh. Planning for the coming years will have to be done from today, so that the young generation of the state can get an ecosystem that will establish Uttar Pradesh as the leading technology and manufacturing power house of the country.
Along with Noida, GCC's expansion will also increase in Lucknow and Kanpur: Alok Kumar
Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary IT and Electronics Alok Kumar said that along with the development of electronics and semiconductor ecosystem in the state, special focus is being laid on mobile manufacturing and Global Capability Centers (GCC). GCCs are already present in Noida, while some GCCs have started functioning in Lucknow also. He said that through the new GCC policy and IT policy, the aim is to attract more GCCs in Noida as well as in Lucknow and Kanpur region. He told that many IT and technology companies including IBM are present in Lucknow. The GCC and IT policies of the State have been strengthened in line with the policies of other States and IT and IT Enabled Services (ITES) have already been granted Industry Status.
