The Muskar family had settled in Mumbai many years ago in connection with business. The children’s education was also going well, but the Corona epidemic changed the circumstances of the family. During the lockdown, the father’s business came to a halt and the family had to leave their studies incomplete and return to their village in Kolhapur.
When business closed, tankers had to be sold
After returning to the village, the financial crisis faced by the family deepened. Had to sell a tanker used for livelihood. After this, financial problems increased further in the next two-three years and the family had to sell another tanker.
To ensure that there is no shortage of children’s education and Sonam’s shooting equipment, the family sold 10 and a half acres of land and even their shop in Gadhinglaj. Parents faced financial problems, but did not let the financial crisis come in the way of their children’s dreams.

Sonam’s father Uttam Maskar told that his daughter had chosen rifle shooting in class 11th. The expenses in this sport were high, but Sonam talked to her mother and took part in the state level competition within the first two months. After this his interest in this game increased further.
According to Uttam Muskar, he had told Sonam that she could continue this game only after her 12th exams. The family had to return to the village after the business was closed during the lockdown. Later, Sonam strengthened her foundation under the guidance of Radhika Madam and Rohit Sir at Ved Academy, Kolhapur. After this she was selected in NCOE and currently she is taking training in Delhi.
Eye on gold in 2028 Olympics
After winning the silver medal in the Asian Games, Sonam has also made her next goal clear. She said that her main goal is to win the gold medal for India in the 2028 Olympic Games and for this she is already working hard and preparing.
