Bangladesh team announced for Asian Games 2026, this star batsman returns in T20I after a year

Bangladesh Squad Asian Games 2026: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced its 15-member squad for the Asian Games 2026 to be held in Japan on Wednesday, September 2. The captaincy of the team has been handed over to Liton Das, while Test captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto has also returned to the T20I team. Shanto can be seen playing for Bangladesh in this format after about a year.

Liton Das was not part of the team in Australia and Zimbabwe series due to injury. Now with his return, he has been given the responsibility of captaincy again. At the same time, Tauheed Hridoy has been made the vice-captain of the team. Hridoy had captained Bangladesh against Australia and Zimbabwe.

Liton Das’s return has affected wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan and he has not got a place in the Asian Games team. At the same time, some big names are missing in the fast bowling department. Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana are not part of this team.

Taskin was included in the Bangladesh team on the Zimbabwe tour, but due to poor form he was not selected for the Asian Games. On the other hand, Nahid Rana is currently recovering from side strain and hence he is not available for selection. All-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraj has also not been included in the team.

Bangladesh will begin its campaign at the Asian Games 2026 from September 29. Bangladesh had won the bronze medal in the last edition of the Asian Games. In the bronze medal match against Pakistan, Bangladesh won by six wickets under Duckworth-Lewis rule in a rain-affected match. However, in the semi-finals it had to face defeat by nine wickets at the hands of India.
