• Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the government and administration are engaged in relief work, but at this time the cooperation of the society is equally needed.
• For this purpose, the state BJP has started a big relief campaign for the flood affected families. Under the scheme, mekhela-chadar will be provided to 2 lakh flood affected women and clothes to 2 lakh children.
• A target has been set to raise around Rs 12 crore for this entire initiative.
• Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to BJP workers to become a part of the flood relief campaign. He said that those who want to contribute less than Rs 2,000 can donate their amount through local MLAs. At the same time, people giving more than this amount can deposit it directly into the party’s bank account, information about which will be shared on social media.
• The Chief Minister expressed confidence that there will be support from BJP workers and supporters not only in Assam but also from different parts of the country and the target of collecting Rs 12 crore will be achieved in the next four-five days.
• The relief material will be delivered specifically to the most flood-affected districts like Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat, where thousands of families are still waiting to return to normal life.
• On Sunday, the Chief Minister listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program with the local people. Coincidentally this day was also Kargil Vijay Diwas. On this occasion, he paid tribute to all the martyrs of the Kargil war and also remembered the brave son of Assam, Captain Jintu Gogoi, who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country.
