Government unemployment salary support scheme: There is a big good news for people doing private jobs. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has extended the deadline of its famous unemployment allowance scheme, called ‘Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana’ (ABVKY), by one year. According to this decision taken in the 198th meeting of the corporation, now this beneficial scheme will continue from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
The direct benefit of this decision will be given to all those employees who come under ESI facility. If for some reason they lose their job suddenly or under compulsion, the government will continue to provide them financial assistance while they search for new work. What is Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana?
Atal Bimit Vyakti Kalyan Yojana (ABVKY) was started as an experiment in the year 2018, which has been extended from time to time considering its success. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial help for some time to those working people who suddenly lose their jobs. With the help of the financial assistance provided by this scheme, employees can meet their daily essential expenses while searching for new employment without any major financial crisis.
What benefits are available under this scheme?
- If you lose your job, you will get 50 percent of your average daily earnings in cash.
- This financial benefit under this scheme will be given to you only for a maximum of 90 days (3 months).
- As soon as your claim is approved, the assistance amount will be sent directly to your bank account.
Who can claim allowance?
- It is mandatory for the employee to be registered under ESI.
- Before leaving the job, money must have been deposited in the ESI fund for a stipulated time.
- You may have suddenly lost your job due to retrenchment or company closure.
- Permanent disability has occurred due to any reason other than work.

How to apply for unemployment allowance?
- Eligible employees should fill the form in the prescribed format and submit the required documents.
- After investigation by ESIC officials, the money will come directly into the bank account.
- ESIC has extended this scheme till June 2027.
- Employees should get strong financial support in times of crisis or change of job.
