Ather EL: Ather’s new budget family scooter will hit the market on August 29! find out
Bangalore-based leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy will globally unveil its first electric scooter based on its new ‘EL’ platform on August 29, 2026 during ‘Ather Community Day’. The scooter is likely to be available around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be introduced in the range of the company’s existing ‘Rizta’ model.
This new scooter will give Ather a good foothold in the low-cost and high-end electric scooter market. The scooter is likely to hit the showrooms for customers during the upcoming festive season. Its direct competition in the market will be with scooters like TVS iCube, Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1X.

The scooter will be based on the ‘EL01’ concept that was introduced at Community Day 2025. It is likely to have a space big enough to fit two helmets under the seat.
Flexibility of the platform
The ‘EL’ architecture is highly flexible and can accommodate 2 kWh to 5 kWh batteries and 10 to 14 inch wheels. The model seen during testing features 14-inch wheels at the front and 12-inch wheels at the rear, disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

New changes to reduce cost
Ather may use a hub-mounted electric motor instead of a belt-drive to reduce manufacturing costs. Also, a patented AC-DC charging module can be provided under the seat itself, making it easy to store the charging cable inside the scooter itself.
What are smart features??
The scooter will get Atherstack software, smartphone connectivity, navigation and multiple ride modes. The base variant may offer a plain screen to keep the price under control.
The new scooter is likely to be mass produced at Ather’s new factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
