Ather Energy, aiming to strengthen its dominance in the Indian electric two-wheeler market, has unveiled the first official glimpse of its electric scooter based on its new EL platform. Released just ahead of Ather Community Day on August 29th, the teaser reveals that the production model of the scooter is closely related to the company’s previously showcased EL01 concept.
Ather EL Platform Electric Scooter: New look revealed ahead of August 29, debuts with a metal body
Design patent-like look, metal body instead of plastic
Based on the teaser and a design patent filed last year, the new Ather electric scooter’s basic silhouette is very similar to the EL01 concept. The scooter’s front apron features wide LED DRLs (daytime running lights), while the main headlight is handlebar-mounted. This entire setup gives the vehicle a compact and sporty look.
The biggest change will be in its body material. Ather has previously used polymer or fiber panels on its scooters, but the new EL platform scooters will feature metal body panels. This move is clearly aimed at attracting customers seeking strong and durable scooters.
Voices from the Ground / Official Statements
“Our upcoming EL platform is being designed keeping in mind the everyday needs and durability demands of Indian families. It will be the perfect balance of technology and durability.”

Focus on battery, range and commuter segment
This new model from Ather is primarily targeted at the family and daily commuter segment. It’s expected to feature a new battery pack and updated motor setup, delivering improved range and speed for daily city commutes. The company will reveal pricing, official booking dates, and on-road delivery timelines during Community Day on August 29th.
With the introduction of a metal body, this scooter will directly compete with other strong vehicles in the segment, thereby providing a new option to buyers looking for a premium and strong electric two-wheeler.
