Attack on school van full of children in Bhopal, driver stabbed after blocking the way, innocent children scared
There was a stir in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, when a school van full of children was attacked on Saturday afternoon. In Om Nagar area of Kolar police station area, three miscreants riding a bike first blocked the path of a school van, then threw stones at it and repeatedly attacked the driver with a knife.
Due to this sudden attack, the children sitting in the van got scared and started screaming. The injured driver was immediately admitted to the hospital, where his treatment is ongoing.
The injured driver has been identified as Ayaz Khan, resident of Bairagarh Chichli. After the incident, local people informed the police, after which the team reached the spot and started investigation.
The crime was committed in a land dispute
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that there was a dispute over land between Ayaz Khan and the accused for a long time. Due to this rivalry, the accused allegedly planned and targeted the school van in advance. As soon as the van was passing through Om Nagar area, the three miscreants blocked its path by riding a bike.
After this the accused threw stones at the van, due to which the children sitting in the van got scared. When the driver tried to control the situation, the miscreants attacked him with sharp weapons. During this, there was chaos among the people present nearby. The accused fled from the spot before the local people arrived. The children present in the van at the time of the incident did not suffer any physical injury, but they were quite scared. Police are now also investigating whether the attackers had done recce of the area before committing the crime or not.
CCTV footage is being scrutinized
As soon as information about the incident was received, Kolar police station reached the spot and sent the injured driver to the hospital. Police have registered a case under other related sections including attempt to murder. According to SI Jogendra Negi, at present the accused have not been identified and different teams have been formed to search for them.
During the investigation, the police is collecting footage from CCTV cameras installed nearby so that the attackers can be identified. Along with this, people present around the incident site are also being interrogated. Police say that this matter is being taken seriously keeping in mind the safety of children. If land dispute proves to be the reason for the attack, then all aspects related to it will also be investigated. Officials claim that soon the accused will be arrested and the entire matter will be revealed. This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of school vehicles and safe movement of children.
