Attention LPG customers! Get e-KYC done, otherwise gas cylinder-subsidy may be affected

Important news has come out for domestic LPG consumers. The deadline for completion of Aadhaar-based e-KYC for domestic gas connections is August 16, 2026, according to reports. Customers who have not yet completed e-KYC are advised to complete the process in time. The e-KYC process is especially important for customers who have not updated their KYC for a long time. This process is applicable for domestic LPG customers like Indane, Bharat Gas and HP Gas. e-KYC is also important for beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana, as Aadhaar based verification is required for availing subsidy.

What happens if e-KYC is not done: Consumers who do not complete e-KYC within the stipulated time frame may face difficulties in getting LPG cylinders at domestic rates. In some cases the connection or cylinder supply may be temporarily stopped. Subsidies of Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries may also be affected. However, it is not correct to assume that the connection is permanently canceled by not doing e-KYC.

e-KYC can also be done at home: Customers can complete e-KYC through the respective gas company’s mobile app or online. The process may use Aadhaar-based face authentication. In case of difficulty in the online process, customers can contact their gas agency or distributor and get e-KYC done through biometric verification.

If recently done e-KYC: Customers who have recently completed e-KYC should generally not need to re-process. If there is any doubt about the status of e-KYC, the status can be checked from the concerned LPG company’s app or distributor. Consumers are advised to complete e-KYC as soon as possible without waiting for the deadline, so that there is no hassle regarding gas supply or subsidy.
