Indian pacer Auqib Nabi claimed one wicket in each innings during his County Championship debut for Surrey against Yorkshire.
Nabi, who has yet to represent India in any international format, has been signed by Surrey on a three-match County Championship contract. In the first innings, he dismissed fellow Indian Kuldeep Yadav, and in the second innings, he bowled out James Wharton.
The match has seen no half-centuries so far. Surrey chose to field first and bowled Yorkshire out for 185 runs. Tom Lawes took 4 for 36 and Daniel Worrall 3 for 40, while Wharton top-scored with 45.
Surrey were then dismissed for 83 runs, with Ollie Pope scoring 21. Yorkshire led by 102 runs at that stage. In their second innings, Yorkshire were bowled out for just 82, with Matthew Fisher taking six wickets and William Luxton the only batsman passing 20 with 29 runs. Surrey were set a target of 185 runs to win after trailing by 184 runs.
Nabi was recently included as a replacement for Jasprit Bumrah in India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka series but did not play, as Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj were preferred.
He played a significant role in Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden Ranji Trophy triumph in 2025–26, taking 60 wickets over 10 matches at an average of 12.56 with seven five-wicket hauls, becoming the tournament’s highest wicket-taker.
Nabi was also part of the India A squad that toured Sri Lanka recently, where he took six wickets in two first-class matches.
In the 2026 Indian Premier League auction, he was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.4 crore but featured in five games without taking a wicket, conceding runs at an economy rate of 11.46.
