Awareness program organized at IMRT Business School on World Environment Day

Lucknow. On the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 in the capital Lucknow, a special program was organized by IMRT Business School to raise awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development. Retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Shri Rajiv Kumar was present as the keynote speaker in the program. He provided important information to the students and teachers on environmental protection, sustainable development and current environmental challenges.

In his address, Shri Kumar, while mentioning the global history of environmental awareness, said that the Stockholm Conference held in the year 1972 made environmental protection a major topic of global discussion and laid a strong foundation for environmental policies and cooperation at the international level. Highlighting the important role of the Supreme Court for environmental protection in India, he said that various environmental laws and policies have been strengthened as a result of various directions and interventions of the Court. Referring to the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) of the Indian Constitution and the fundamental duties of the citizens, he said that environmental protection is not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every citizen.

Discussing the role of the corporate sector, he said that today business organizations are becoming more conscious of environmental responsibility and incorporating the principles of sustainable development in their functioning. Describing the rapidly increasing population and increasing pressure on natural resources as the main causes of environmental degradation, he stressed the need to maintain a balance between development and environment. He called upon the students to adopt the principles of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” in their daily life and stay away from “use and throw” culture. Kumar replied in detail. This interactive session was very informative and inspiring. On this occasion, Chairman of IMRT Business School, D.R. Bansal, IFS (Retd) and Director Prof. Shilpika Pandey, while wishing all the students, teachers and staff on World Environment Day, called for active contribution towards environmental protection and sustainable development. Through this program organized on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, IMRT Business School reiterated its commitment towards environmental awareness, social responsibility and sustainable development and inspired the students to build a green and safe future. “Protect nature today, so that tomorrow’s future is safe and prosperous.”
