India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle portfolio. Following the success of the ‘Chetak’ e-scooter and three-wheelers, the company has revealed that it will launch its first electric motorcycle in the Indian market in FY2028. This information was given during the announcement of the company’s ‘Q1 FY27’ financial results.

Electric vehicles accounted for nearly 30 percent of Bajaj’s total domestic business in the April-June 2026 quarter. In view of the overwhelming response to the ‘Chetak’ scooter in the market, the company will increase the monthly production of Chetak from 50,000 units to 60,000 units in the next few months to overcome the supply shortage. Revenue from the company’s e-vehicle business has nearly doubled compared to the same period last year.

Bajaj Auto’s all-time high financial performance
Bajaj Auto has recorded a historic performance in the April-June 2026 quarter. The company’s operating revenue grew by 37 percent to ₹ 17,244 crore, while profit after tax rose by over 40 percent to nearly ₹ 3,000 crore. The company has crossed the global export milestone of over 7 lakh vehicles for the first time due to growing demand in Latin America and Africa.

‘Pulsar‘ Improvements in category and dominance of premium bikes
The company will soon bring new updates and enhancements to the popular Pulsar range in the 125 cc to 160 cc segment. On the other hand, premium brands ‘KTM’ (KTM) and ‘Triumph’ (Triumph) grew their domestic revenue by 60 percent, with the new 350 cc portfolio and ‘Triumph Tracker 400’ driving the segment.
