CM Shubhendu Adhikari roared in West Bengal Assembly

Amidst the political turmoil in the state, a very big and shocking decision has come to light. Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari on Saturday openly mentioned on the floor of the Assembly several highly controversial and sensational incidents that took place during the previous Trinamool Congress rule.

During this time, he has made a big announcement of suspending a total of five police officers including an IPS officer Koteshwar Rao with immediate effect, alleging misuse of police administration during the tenure of the previous government. There has been an uproar in political circles after the strict action taken in these cases.

Anger erupted over Maa Kali’s statue being taken in prison van

During his address, the Chief Minister recalled many painful incidents during the tenure of the previous TMC government. He first mentioned the incident of Suryanagar located in Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas district, which he described as a direct and deep attack on the faith of Sanatan Dharma.

Shubhendu Adhikari said that when the local people were protesting peacefully against the demolition of the statue of Maa Kali, the heavy police force under the leadership of the then SP of Sundarban police district and IPS officer Koteshwar Rao had lathicharged the unarmed people. The limit was crossed when after this the sacred idol of Maa Kali was picked up and forcibly kept in the prison van (police vehicle) and taken to the police station. In this very sensitive and condemnable matter, the Chief Minister has announced the immediate suspension of IPS Koteshwar Rao.

Kaliyaganj student murder case and Mrityunjay Burman’s shooting death case

After this, the Chief Minister also mentioned the gruesome incident of Kaliyaganj in North Dinajpur district, where a student was raped and brutally murdered. After this heinous crime, when the local people staged a peaceful protest demanding strict punishment for the accused, the police adopted a repressive policy.

Shubhendu Adhikari alleged that in the name of joining this movement, a police team raided the house of Mrityunjay Burman at around 2 o’clock in the night. As soon as the door was opened, he was shot and died. Taking action in this matter, the Chief Minister has suspended ASI Moyazzem Hussain of Kaliaganj police station and has issued strict orders for a departmental inquiry against him.

Harassment of former IPS Pankaj Dutt and Krishnanagar puja controversy

Taking the address further, the Chief Minister also raised the curtain on the case of death of former IPS officer late Pankaj Dutt. He made serious allegations and said that Late. Pankaj Dutt was repeatedly called to Badtala police station in Kolkata and was mentally tortured. It has been announced to suspend Investigating Officer (IO) Sadhan Das and the then SHO of Badtala police station Inspector Subarna Dutt Chaudhary after being found involved in this case. Let us tell you that accused Inspector Choudhary was currently serving in the Special Branch of Kolkata Police.

Apart from this, special mention was also made of the controversy that took place during the Jagaddhatri Puja immersion last year in Krishnanagar in Nadia district. The Chief Minister said that during this period, the policemen on duty had lathicharged the local people and used very objectionable language against them. Considering the seriousness of this matter, Inspector Amalendu Biswas on duty has been ordered to be suspended and instructions have also been given for a high level judicial inquiry into this entire incident.

Government will move forward on the path of justice

Announcing these major decisions in the Assembly, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari said in clear words that strict departmental action will be taken against all those police officers who had crossed their limits and committed atrocities on the public during the previous regime. He assured the public that injustice will be dealt with sternly and providing justice to the people is the biggest priority of his government. The Chief Minister has appealed to the people to have full faith in the law and order and justice of the state.
