Lucknow: A CBI court in Lucknow has sentenced a former Bank of Baroda branch manager to four years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 in a bribery case involving a loan sanctioned to a businessman for expanding his solar lights business.
The convicted man, Subodh Kumar Rastogi, was the branch manager at Bank of Baroda's Balrampur branch in Uttar Pradesh when the alleged offense took place. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case against him in October 2015 following a complaint by the borrower.
Manager Demanded Rs 25,000 Bribe
According to the CBI, the complainant had been sanctioned a loan of Rs 5 lakh to expand his solar lights business. However, while disbursing Rs 1.25 lakh as a term loan, Rastogi allegedly collected around Rs 25,000 from him on the pretext of CA charges, stamp paper expenses, and file charges.
