New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will hold an ‘Insaaf Rally’ tomorrow at Sangrur to seek justice for the people of Punjab. The Congress alleges that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) promised several things when it came to power but instead “betrayed” the people over the last four-and-a-half years.
According to Punjab in-charge Sachin Pilot, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is also expected to join the public meeting at Sangrur, the home district of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Rahul Gandhi’s rally a test for Congress aspirants
It is a do-or-die moment for Congress ticket aspirants in Punjab as party leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a mega rally. It is going to be Rahul Gandhi’s first public rally in recent times and is expected to continue until the Assembly polls are over. For the last three-four months, the border state of Punjab was facing factional fights within the Congress. Things have settled down following the appointment of the PCC chief as well as the state in-charge last month.

Congress to target AAP government over law and order
The Congress is positioning Sangrur as the launchpad for a campaign that could put the AAP government’s record on law and order, drug control and public safety under intense scrutiny. It is learned that Rahul Gandhi may also meet the family of Parvinder Singh Jhota, an anti-drug activist whose recent killing has brought renewed attention to the risks faced by people campaigning against narcotics in Punjab.
