Ram Idol Controversy In Bangladesh: The administration has banned the construction of a huge statue of Lord Ram being built in Bangladesh, which has sparked controversy. Let us tell you that the statue of Lord Ram was being made in the premises of Shri Radha Govind and Kali Temple located in Palashbari Upazila of Gaibandha district of Bangladesh, which was stopped by the administration. Writer Taslima Nasreen and Hindu organizations have strongly condemned the matter, calling it an issue of religious freedom.

Ban on construction of world’s largest statue

It is being told that the world’s largest statue of Lord Ram was being built here. Which the Bangladesh authorities have ordered to be suspended. This statue was being installed in the premises of Sri Sri Radha Govinda and Kali Temple located in Palashbari Upazila of Gaibandha district of Bangladesh.

According to Bangladeshi media, temple advisor Shyamal Kumar Mahant gave this information during a press conference held in the temple auditorium on Thursday evening. There have been sharp reactions after this decision of Bangladesh government. It has been alleged that the construction of Lord Ram’s statue has been stopped under pressure from Islamic groups.

Taslima Nasreen raised questions

Writer and human rights activist Taslima Nasreen has strongly condemned the suspension of the construction of Lord Ram Temple. He raised the question that in a country where there are lakhs of mosques and construction of many is going on. Why is only the Hindu place of worship being targeted there? Nasreen wrote on her social media platform X that there are several lakh mosques in Bangladesh and new mosques are also being constructed. Then why so much opposition to the construction of Lord Ram’s idol? If religious freedom is for all, then it should apply equally to Hindu minorities and not just to the majority.

Writer Taslima Nasreen further said that the threats and hate statements being received against the Ram temple under construction in Palashbari, Gaibandha are extremely worrying. No person should have the right to demolish a place of worship of another community just because they do not like it. Nasreen raised the question, ‘There are big Hindu temples in many Muslim majority countries around the world. But the existence of temples there is not considered a threat to them. Then why so much ruckus over the construction of a temple in Bangladesh?
