Bank Strike: Banks will open only for 2 days next week, services will be affected for 5 consecutive days; Know when there will be holidays

Lucknow: Problems regarding banking services may increase for bank customers next week. Despite banks opening on Sunday, banking operations will be affected next week due to strikes and holidays. Due to the nationwide strike of bank employees and Gandhi Jayanti holiday, customers will be able to avail banking services only for two days in a week. In such a situation, if you have to complete any important work related to the bank, then it is important to understand the dates first.

Public sector bank officers and employees will be on a nationwide strike from September 28 to 30 over their pending demands including implementation of the five-day banking system. Banking services will be affected due to this strike under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions.

Bank strike from 28th to 30th September, important work may get stuck

Bank officers and employees will go on a three-day strike regarding the five-day banking system and other pending issues. Due to this, work in bank branches will be affected. Customers may have to wait for tasks like account withdrawal, opening a new account, e-KYC, loan related work and bill payment.

During the three-day strike, transactions worth Rs 7.5 thousand crore are likely to be affected in Lucknow.

Banking services will be available only two days next week

Due to strike and holiday, operation of banking services will be affected next week. Even after banks open on Sunday, customers will get banking services only for two days next week.

  • September 27, Sunday: Banks will open on the instructions of RBI.

  • 28 September, Monday: Nationwide bank strike.

  • 29 September, Tuesday: Nationwide bank strike.

  • 30 September, Wednesday: Nationwide bank strike.

  • October 1, Thursday: Banks will open.

  • October 2, Friday: Gandhi Jayanti holiday.

  • October 3, Saturday: Banks will open.

  • October 4, Sunday: Weekly holiday.

In this way, due to strikes and holidays, customers will get limited time for banking operations. Customers will have to plan in advance regarding important works.

Employees will get overtime when banks open on Sunday

Banks will open on Sunday also on the instructions of RBI. Anil Srivastava, District Convenor of United Forum of Bank Unions, said that in emergency circumstances, RBI has the right to open banks even on holidays. However, the employees working on that day will have to be paid overtime by the bank.

He told that bank officials will also have to pay inconvenience allowance.

If demands are not met, indefinite strike from October 26

The agitation regarding the demands of bank employees may continue further. Anil Tiwari, media in-charge of United Forum of Bank Unions, said that if the demands are not met even after three days of strike, then an indefinite strike has been declared from October 26.
