According to the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Negotiable Instruments Act, bank holiday has been declared on August 26 due to major religious and cultural festivals: Eid-e-Milad / Barawafat (Milad-un-Nabi): Banks will remain closed in most of the states of the country on the occasion of the birthday of Prophet Mohammad. Thiruvonam: There will be a public holiday in banks due to the main festival of Onam 'Thiruvonam' in Kerala. In which states and cities will bank branches remain closed? As per the official holiday table of RBI, banks will remain closed in the following states and circles tomorrow, August 26: Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand: All government, private and rural banks will remain closed in Lucknow, Kanpur and Dehradun circles due to Eid-e-Milad/Barawafat. Maharashtra and Delhi-NCR: Banks will remain closed in Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur and New Delhi. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana: Bank branches will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh: There will be holiday in Bhopal, Patna, Ranchi and Raipur. Jammu-Kashmir and Manipur: Banks will also remain closed in Jammu, Srinagar and Imphal. Kerala and Andhra Pradesh: There will be bank holidays in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada on the occasion of Thiruvonam and Milad-un-Nabi. In which states will banks open normally? In some states where the Eid-e-Milad holiday has been observed on Tuesday (August 25) or where it is not included in the local list, bank branches will remain open. These include states like West Bengal, Assam, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram, where banking operations will operate like normal.
