Saransh Jain is a new face in the team.

The most surprising selection in this team is Saransh Jain, who has been included in the Indian Test Team for the first time. This all-rounder, who has consistently performed brilliantly in domestic cricket, has been called up to the senior team for the first time. Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel will handle the wicketkeeping duties. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan and Devdutt Padikkal have also got a place in the batting. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and Manav Suthar are part of the team as all-rounders. BCCI clarified that Washington Sundar was not available for selection for the first Test, hence he was not included in the team.

Bumrah-Sudarshan selected subject to fitness

Jasprit Bumrah will lead the fast bowling attack. He is joined by Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnur Brar. However, the BCCI has clarified that the availability of Sai Sudarshan and Jasprit Bumrah will depend on fitness clearance from the BCCI Center of Excellence (COE).

Which players returned to the Test team

India’s last Test match was against Afghanistan. Compared to that team, Nitish Reddy, Harsh Dubey, and Washington Sundar are not part of the current squad. Ravindra Jadeja and Bumrah have returned to the Test team. However, Bumrah’s participation is still uncertain. Furthermore, Saransh is a newcomer. Jadeja last played a Test match against South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium in November last year. He is returning after a long time. His last international match came in January this year.
