Indian Cricket Team is set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series, which starts on 15th August. Times of India reported that the team for the tour will be announced on Tuesday. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, while speaking to the newspaper, said: “The Indian team for the tour of Sri Lanka will be announced on Tuesday.”
The much-anticipated review meeting to discuss the losses in Ireland and England will take place after the Zimbabwe tour ends. The third and final game of the series will be played on Sunday before the team returns home. The Men in Blue lost both games to Ireland and also went down 0-4 during their England tour. TOI reported that the review will be conducted in the first half of August.
Mr Saikia, in his chat with TOI, said, “We will conduct the review meet in the first half of August. Some of the support staff members’ contracts have expired. We will review that as well as all the things that went wrong in England, and it will be done after the team returns from Zimbabwe.”
Assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate wants to leave, while it is reported that fielding coach T. Dilip will be let go. The newspaper also stated the duo’s contract may not be renewed. The former Netherlands star joined Gautam Gambhir’s coaching setup in 2024 and is actively looking at the IPL to strengthen his chances of becoming a head coach.
Star Indian players like to return for Sri Lanka tour
jasprit bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are set to make their comeback to the team. Bumrah played the first two ODIs in England before getting ruled out of the final match due to fitness issues. Jadeja, on the other hand, hasn’t been considered since the Afghanistan Test.
The first test will be played in Galle, while Colombo will host the second and final game of the series. It is a key tour for Shubman Gill’s side, who have their backs against the wall in a bid to qualify for the WTC final.
