Tezzbuzz Desk – After a long wait, Delhi Government has announced new appointments in Delhi Women Commission and Delhi Minority Commission. Lata Gupta has been made the chairperson of the Women’s Commission, while Nirmal Jain has been given the responsibility of the Minority Commission.
Delhi government has announced new appointments in key institutions related to women’s safety and social justice. The government has appointed senior BJP leader and social activist Lata Gupta as the new chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW). Along with this, Shyam Bala, Malti Verma, Lata Sodhi, Sanrakshika Sharma Jha and Renu Bhalla have been made members of the commission.
The government says that these appointments will give new momentum to the functioning of the Women’s Commission and access to justice, security and assistance to women will be more effective than before. It is noteworthy that the post of Chairperson of the Commission was vacant after Swati Maliwal became a Rajya Sabha member in January 2024.
Public life started from student politics
Lata Gupta’s political and social journey started from her student life. Born in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, Lata Gupta got involved in social and political activities at an early age, inspired by nationalist ideology. He played an active role in the field of organization and public service for years and created his own identity in Delhi politics.
Performed many important responsibilities in BJP organization
Lata Gupta has worked on many important positions in the BJP organization. She has been the Vice President of Delhi Pradesh BJP, former General Secretary of Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha and former District President of Shahdara District BJP. Considering her organizational experience and her activism on women empowerment issues, she has been given this new responsibility.
Active contribution in corporate politics also
Lata Gupta has long experience at the local body level also. She was a municipal councilor from Shakarpur ward from 2007 to 2012 and from Pandav Nagar ward from 2012 to 2017. During his tenure, he carried forward many development works related to women safety, cleanliness, education and basic facilities. Apart from this, she has also been the chairperson of the first woman Standing Committee of Delhi Municipal Corporation.
New team in Minority Commission also
Delhi government has also announced new appointments in Delhi Minorities Commission. Nirmal Jain has been made the chairman of the commission, while Kuldeep Singh and Mohammad Haroon have been appointed members.
The government said these appointments are important steps towards protecting the rights of all sections of the society, strengthening social harmony and promoting inclusive growth. The government claims that with the new leadership both the commissions will discharge their responsibilities more effectively.
