Indian Railways is adding special train services from Bengaluru to meet the expected surge in passenger demand during the upcoming festive season.
The new services will provide additional connectivity from Bengaluru to Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, giving passengers more options to travel during a period when regular trains are expected to see heavy demand.
Bengaluru-Mumbai Special Trains
Central Railway will operate 14 weekly AC special services between Mumbai and SMVT Bengaluru.
Train number 01013 will run from Mumbai CSMT to SMVT Bengaluru every Saturday from October 10 to November 21.
The return service, train number 01014, will operate from Bengaluru to Mumbai every Sunday from October 11 to November 22.
The trains will stop at several important stations, including Pune, Satara, Karad, Sangli, Miraj, Belagavi, Dharwad, Hubballi, Davangere and Tumakuru.
Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam Special Train
Another important service will connect SMVT Bengaluru with Visakhapatnam.
Train number 08583, the Visakhapatnam-SMVT Bengaluru Special, will operate from October 6 to November 25, with eight trips in each direction.
It will leave Visakhapatnam at 12:45 pm on Tuesdays and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 3:50 pm the following day.
The return train, 08584, will leave SMVT Bengaluru at 3:50 pm on Wednesdays and reach Visakhapatnam at 4:35 pm the next day.
Major Stations On Bengaluru-Vizag Route
The Bengaluru-Visakhapatnam special will connect several important cities across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Major stops include Duvvada, Anakapalle, Samalkot Junction, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole, Nellore, Gudur, Renigunta, Katpadi, Jolarpettai and Krishnarajapuram.
The service will provide another long-distance option for passengers travelling between Bengaluru and the eastern coast.
Why Special Trains Are Being Added
The additional services come ahead of the festive season, when demand for long-distance rail travel typically increases sharply.
Passengers often face difficulty finding confirmed berths on popular routes during periods around Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath.
Special trains allow the railways to temporarily increase capacity without changing the regular timetable.
