The Superintendent of Police (SP) has also been asked to appear in person on August 12th. Senior advocate Sanjeev Singh, representing Bharat, stated that all the requests we made to the court today were accepted. The court asked the police what steps were taken to arrest the accused, who all were issued notices, and why the other accused have not yet been arrested. The court also directed the police to submit electronic evidence reports (Bharat Tiwari’s mobile phone), witness statements, and CCTV footage related to the incident.
The court also asked whether any of the accused in this case has been declared a fugitive. Bharat Bhushan’s lawyer said that the SDM’s name was not mentioned in the first FIR, but his name came up after investigation, which is why a non-bailable warrant has been issued against him. Bharat’s mother, Asha Devi, and other family members allege that the police killed Bharat and staged an encounter. In this case, a case was initially registered against the Jagdishpur sub-divisional police officer and the Shahpur police station in-charge, along with other policemen involved in the encounter. After that, five policemen were also suspended.
