The Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI has made a major change in the rules, giving a big gift to the general public. From July 1, a very important update service of Aadhar Card is being made completely free for the next 6 months.

Actually, generally people had to pay a fixed fee from their own pocket to get this special work done. But after this new decision of the government, now crores of citizens of the country will be able to complete this important work sitting at home without spending a single rupee. It is being told that this step has been taken with the aim of promoting the Digital India campaign and keeping people’s data safe.

You will not have to pay a single rupee for this special service

Now this question must be arising in your mind that what is the service of Aadhaar which has been made free by the government? Actually, under this new rule, the government has announced to make the service of ‘updating or linking email ID’ in Aadhar card completely free. According to the current system, if a citizen adds his email ID to his Aadhar card for the first time or updates the new ID by changing the old email ID, then he has to pay a fixed fee of Rs 75 for this.

But after the new decision, this fee of Rs 75 has been completely waived off for the next six months from July 1. This simply means that you will have a great and long opportunity to correct your Aadhaar data without any extra expense.

This important condition has to be followed for Aadhaar Card Free Update

To avail the benefit of this free scheme, UIDAI has also put a very important condition, which is very important for you to know. The authority has made it clear that this benefit of exemption from fee of Rs 75 will be available only and only on working through online medium.

That is, if you yourself update your email ID online through your smartphone or computer by visiting UIDAI’s official ‘mAadhaar’ mobile app or their official website, then only this service will be 100% free for you. If you get the same work done offline by visiting your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra, Pragya Kendra, Bank or Post Office, then you may have to pay the same fixed fee there as before. The main objective of this initiative of the government is to make people self-reliant and aware to work online on their own.

Why is it very important to link email ID?

According to local people and cyber experts, linking email ID to Aadhaar has become very important from security point of view. In today’s era when cases of online fraud are increasing rapidly, email ID becomes an additional layer of your security. Whenever your Aadhaar card is used somewhere or any biometric authentication takes place, its alert and OTP is sent to your registered mobile number as well as your email ID.

This helps to immediately stop any possible misuse or fraud of your Aadhaar. Many times it happens that OTP is not received on the phone due to absence of mobile network or SIM is switched off, in such a situation the OTP received on email saves your work from getting halted and the work gets completed on time.
