The Central Government has given a huge gift to lakhs of employees working in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) i.e. government companies. The government has made a huge announcement of huge increase in Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA). This important decision has been taken by the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), under which now employees working in executive and non-union supervisory positions will get more allowance amid rising inflation. The most important thing is that all these new rates will become effective from July 1, 2026, due to which there will be a direct increase in the monthly salary of the employees.
New IDA rates will be applicable from July 1, 2026
According to the official order issued by the government, this amendment made in Industrial Dearness Allowance will be fully applicable to all CPSE employees falling under different pay scales for the years 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017. This increase in allowances will directly increase the monthly salary of the employees, which will help in reducing the impact of continuously increasing inflation in the country to a great extent.
New rates have been decided on the basis of AICPI data.
Let us tell you that these new rates of Industrial Dearness Allowance have been decided with complete transparency on the basis of changes in the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). This special index reflects the actual level of inflation in the country and accordingly the government revises the allowances of the employees from time to time, so that their purchasing power remains intact.
Which employees will get the benefit of this bumper increase?
These revised IDA rates are only for executive and non-union supervisory employees working in Central Public Sector Enterprises i.e. CPSEs. These CPSE companies of the country work in many important sectors like energy, infrastructure, manufacturing and financial services, and their entire salary structure is different from that of ordinary central employees.
DPE gave strict instructions to all ministries and CPSEs
The Department of Public Enterprises has issued strict instructions to all the concerned ministries and departments of the country to immediately inform all the CPSE companies under them about these revised IDA rates. Also, it should be ensured that these are implemented on time from the scheduled date so that the employees do not face any kind of delay.
Know how much Industrial Dearness Allowance you will get now
According to the new rates issued by the government, the Industrial Dearness Allowance for employees of different pay scales has been fixed as follows:
- 2017 Pay Scale: Allowance will be given at the rate of 55.70%.
- 2007 Pay Scale: The rate of 241.70% will be applicable.
- 1997 Pay Scale: Payment will be made at the rate of 476.90%.
- 1987 Pay Scale: Based on the average AICPI level of 9,854, the total would be ₹18,298.
How much will this directly affect your salary?
Understand it in simple language that if an employee is getting a basic salary of Rs 50,000 under the pay scale of 2017, then according to the new IDA rate of 55.70%, he will directly get Industrial Dearness Allowance of Rs 27,850. Similarly, other old pay scale employees will also be given allowances on the basis of their respective revised rates.
Amid rising inflation in the country, this step of the government is no less than a big relief package for CPSE employees. This spectacular increase, which will be implemented from July 1, 2026, will lighten the burden of daily expenses of eligible employees across the country to a great extent.
