New Delhi. The central government is preparing to bring a new code of conduct regarding the use of social media by government officials and employees. Clear guidelines can be made regarding activities like watching reels, sharing videos and personal posts while on duty. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked senior bureaucrats to consider formulating clear rules in this regard.
Rules will be decided on the use of social media
The current government conduct rules were created at a time when social media was not prevalent. In such a situation, there are no detailed provisions regarding the use of digital platforms by government employees. In the proposed code, rules can be set for matters like use of social media during office hours, dignity of government post and sharing of official information.
However, no final decision has been taken yet on whether there will be a complete ban on watching reels or not. The situation will become clear only after the final form of the new code of conduct is prepared.
Government services scheme with one login
The proposal to create 'One India' portal for citizens was also discussed in the meeting. Its aim is to reduce the hassle of separate logins on multiple websites for different government services. Under the proposal, there is a plan to provide access to multiple government services with a single username and password.
These initiatives of the government aim to simplify and integrate online services for citizens while enhancing digital discipline in government functioning.
