The Indian scooter market has performed strongly even before the start of the festive season. In August 2026, 10 scooter manufacturers in the country shipped a total of 855,715 scooters to dealers. This growth is a staggering 31% compared to 691,430 units in August 2025. Along with this, Scooter Dispatch in August recorded the highest monthly figure ever.
Honda regained the top spot
After losing the lead to TVS Motor in July, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India regained the top spot in August. The company shipped 285,527 scooters to dealers, including 283,485 petrol models and 2,042 electric scooters. Honda's market share stood at 33%, while TVS Motor was second with 30% share.

TVS and the performance of other companies
TVS Motor dispatched 256,442 scooters in August. Of this, 57,523 units were of the iQube and Orbiter electric scooters. Suzuki Motorcycle India took the third position with 101,267 units. It was followed by Hero MotoCorp dispatching 72,150 scooters, Bajaj Auto 53,748 and Yamaha Motor India 34,279 scooters.
Sales of electric scooters grew at a rapid pace
Electric scooters played a major role in August's even record performance. 188,714 e-scooters were shipped to dealers this month, up 131% from August 2025. Electric models accounted for 22% of total scooter sales. E-scooter dispatches reached 1.08 million units between January and August 2026, indicating strong demand for the year.
