Which states started this facility first
Delhi is not the first government to take such a step. Earlier, Punjab, Haryana and Bihar governments have also announced free bus travel for NEET candidates.
The Punjab government first announced this on May 20. This decision of CM Bhagwant Mann was shared by Aam Aadmi Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on X. He informed that the state government has decided to provide free bus services for NEET candidates from June 20 to June 22.
After this, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini also started a similar facility in the state. Its purpose was to ensure that students do not face any problem in reaching the examination centres.
Bihar government also took steps
In this series, Bihar government led by Samrat Chaudhary also announced free bus travel for the candidates appearing for NEET re-examination. In a message shared on Twitter, CM Samrat said that district officials have been instructed to work together to manage facilities at important transport points. This should ensure that the candidates and their parents do not face any inconvenience in travelling.
He also appealed to temples, monasteries and NGOs to cooperate in this initiative. CM said that these institutions should make arrangements for drinking water and sattu for the parents accompanying the students appearing for the examination.
This initiative of many states is to reduce the financial and mental pressure on students on the exam day. Free transportation will provide great relief to candidates coming from far away places.
