Drops of relief have finally rained for the people of Delhi-NCR, who have been facing scorching heat, humidity and record-breaking heatwave for the last several days. After this relief rain, a huge drop in the temperature of Delhi-NCR has been recorded. In many areas the mercury dropped to around 10°C to 12°C, which has brought great relief to the people from the scorching heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a new orange alert of thunderstorms and rain from today (Friday) till May 31. Let us know how much the temperature has dropped in your area and how the weather is going to be for the next three days. How much heat has fallen in your area? (Temperature Drop Stats) After this sudden rain on Thursday evening, within just a few hours a huge drop in temperature ranging from 5°C to 12°C was seen at different weather stations in Delhi and NCR. Gurugram: The biggest relief was seen in this area of NCR, where the mercury dropped to around 12°C. Ayanagar: A huge drop of 11°C was recorded in the temperature here also. Mehrauli: The temperature in this historical area dropped to around 10°C. Narayana: A drop of about 6°C was observed in the temperature here. This sudden change is also very special because just before this the mercury had crossed 45°C in many areas of Delhi. Even the nights were so hot that the minimum temperature recorded on 21 May was 31.9°C, one of the most uncomfortable nights of the season. Where was how much rain recorded? According to weather department data, light to moderate showers occurred in different parts of Delhi between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm on Thursday: Weather Station Name Total Rainfall Recorded (in mm) Safdarjung 3.3 mm Palam 3.1 mm Pitampura 0.5 mm Mayur Vihar 0.5 mm Jafarpur (Jafarpur) 0.5 mm Why did the weather change? Scientists told the reason: Opinion of meteorologists: Senior scientist of IMD, Akhil Srivastava said that three big atmospheric systems have become active simultaneously in the plains of North-West India. First – A very active Western Disturbance is formed over the Himalayan region. Second – An induced cyclonic circulation has formed over Rajasthan. Third: Along with these two, moisture laden winds coming from the Bay of Bengal have mixed. The coming together of these three increased the humidity level in the air, creating favorable conditions for thunderstorms and pre-monsoon rains. How will be the weather of Delhi-NCR till 31st May? According to the Meteorological Department, this activity of rain and dust storm in Delhi-NCR is likely to continue till May 31 (Sunday). According to weather experts (Skymet Weather), this round of pre-monsoon rains is much stronger than the showers that occurred in April and early May this year. Today i.e. on Friday, the intensity of this storm may increase further, due to which widespread rain will be seen across Delhi. After this this weather system will gradually shift towards Gujarat. During this time, strong winds with a speed of 50 kilometers per hour are also expected, due to which Delhi Airport has also issued an advisory in view of the possibility of delay or cancellation of flights. Relief till Sunday, but then ‘the wrath of the sun’ will return. If you are thinking that summer is over forever after seeing this pleasant weather, then be a little careful. Weather experts have warned that this period of rain and cold winds will last only till Sunday (May 31), due to which the mercury will remain around 34°C to 35°C. This moisture present in the air will be completely cleared from June 1 and after this the dry and scorching westerly winds will once again slowly return to the region. The result will be that from the beginning of next week, a sharp increase of 5°C to 6°C may be seen again in temperature. So enjoy this weekend to the fullest, because from next week Suraj Dev is going to return to his old colors again.
