Tezzbuzz Desk- A big warning has emerged regarding cyber security for users using Google Chrome. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In has issued a high-severity alert regarding several serious security flaws in desktop Chrome. By taking advantage of these vulnerabilities, cyber attackers can run arbitrary code on the user's system and try to access sensitive information.
This security alert has been issued for users using Chrome on Windows, macOS and Linux. CERT-In has advised affected users to avoid running the browser on older versions and immediately install the latest security updates.
Flaws found in these parts of Chrome
According to CERT-In, security vulnerabilities have been revealed in many components of Chrome. These include parts like V8, TabStrip, HTML, Extensions and Blink. Some of these flaws are related to memory vulnerabilities like Use-After-Free. To exploit these, an attacker can trick a user into opening a specially crafted webpage, link, or web request. In case of a successful cyber attack, the security of the system may be affected and attackers may try to access sensitive data.
Which Chrome versions are at risk?
According to CERT-In alert, on Windows and macOS Chrome versions older than 151.0.7922.137/.138 Are affected. Whereas on Linux Versions older than 151.0.7922.137 Are at risk.
