Gonda. Preparations have started to remove the names of about 4 lakh 38 thousand ration beneficiaries from the eligibility list in Devipatan division of Uttar Pradesh. These beneficiaries have not been taking government ration for the last six months. The department will first deactivate their ration cards temporarily and later the process of removing their names from the eligibility list will be started.
Strict action against those who do not get e-KYC done
The Food and Logistics Department has implemented a new system to identify ineligible beneficiaries. On 21st of every month, cardholders who have not taken ration for the last six months will be identified. After this, such cards can be temporarily deactivated from the 1st of the next month. Although the card will continue to be visible online, the allocation and distribution of ration on it will stop.
Situation in four districts
In Devipatan division, out of total 77.19 lakh beneficiaries, e-KYC of about 69.83 lakh has been done, while e-KYC of 4,38,132 beneficiaries is still pending. These include 1,56,711 beneficiaries in Gonda, 1,40,120 in Bahraich, 1,01,601 in Balrampur and 39,700 in Shravasti. According to the department, some people may be ineligible, while many have moved to other places for employment. Constant awareness is being created through Kotedars to complete e-KYC.
Get e-KYC done on time
The Food and Logistics Department has appealed to the ration beneficiaries to contact their quotadar and get the e-KYC process completed soon. If this is not done, the name may be removed from the eligibility list along with further ration benefits being stopped.
