A very big and relief news is coming for crores of central government employees and pensioners across the country. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the official announcement of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to be implemented from July 2026. Employee organizations have also strongly demanded from the government to complete this entire process as soon as possible, so that the employees can get their due rights.
DA benefits to be available from July, eyes fixed on date
According to government rules, changes in DA and DR are made twice a year. Of this, the July installment is to be effective from July 1, 2026. However, the month of September is about to end but its official announcement has not been made yet. Due to this delay in the announcement, employees and pensioners have to wait a little longer for their revised salary and pension.
Strict demand of employee organizations, announcement should be made soon
The 'Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers' has written a letter to the Department of Expenditure of the Finance Ministry, requesting that the process of declaration of DA and DR installment of July be completed as soon as possible without any further delay. The organization clearly says that this is not a demand for any kind of additional benefit, but a direct request for timely release of the entitlement due from July 1.
How much can your DA increase this time?
Initially, an increase of 3% was estimated for this DA installment of July 2026. 'Financial Express' had reported the DA calculation to be 63.75% based on All India Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) data for June, which was considered as 63% under the existing formula. However, based on the later July data, some media reports have estimated it to increase to 64%. However, it is important to clarify that the final rate will be considered confirmed only after the official seal and notification of the government.
How much DA is being received now and who will benefit?
Let us tell you that earlier the Central Government had approved a 2 percent increase in DA from January 2026, after which it increased from 58% to 60%. This increase was implemented from January 1, 2026. According to government data, about 50.46 lakh central employees and 68.27 lakh pensioners got direct benefit from that decision.
Revised DA and arrears may come in October salary
Employee organizations have full hope that the government will soon announce the DA/DR of July and it will be included in the salary of October. As soon as the government gives the green signal, the employees will also get the outstanding arrears of the previous months on the basis of this increase which will be implemented from July 1, 2026. At present, the matter of DA reaching 64% is only based on estimates, hence all eyes are fixed on the official cabinet decision and notification of the Finance Ministry.
