New Delhi. An important update has come from the government for LPG gas consumers. Now it has been made mandatory for all consumers to get eKYC done to get gas subsidy and to continue connection related services. If this process is not completed within the stipulated time limit, the subsidy may stop and some services may also be affected.
Why is eKYC important?
The government aims to make the LPG connection and subsidy system more transparent and secure. Through eKYC, the identity of the consumer is digitally verified, which reduces the chances of fake connections and availing wrong benefits. According to the information, the last date for completing eKYC has been fixed as June 30, 2026. Therefore, all consumers have been advised to complete this process on time.
How to do eKYC from mobile sitting at home?
Now consumers can easily complete eKYC sitting at home from their mobile phones. For this follow the steps given below. First of all, download the official mobile app of your gas company, login to the app with your registered mobile number, go to ‘My Profile’ section, select eKYC option in LPG Details, read and agree to the terms and conditions, complete identity verification through OTP or face scan, fill all the information and submit the form, usually this process is completed within 24 to 48 hours.
You can also do eKYC through UMANG app
If you do not want to use the gas company’s app, you can also do eKYC through the UMANG app: Open the UMANG app, go to the Gas Services section, select the eKYC option, login with mobile number and MPIN, complete the process by following the given steps.
Important advice for consumers
After the new system, all LPG consumers are advised to complete their eKYC on time. Failure to do so may not only stop the subsidy but may also lead to disruption in gas services. The digital process is easy, so instead of postponing it, it would be better to complete it as soon as possible, so that any kind of inconvenience can be avoided.
