Bihar News: To promote modern and planned urban development in Bihar, the Urban Development and Housing Department has entered into a technical cooperation agreement with Ahmedabad-based Center for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) Advisory Foundation. On 15 September 2026, in the presence of Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra, an agreement was signed between the department and CEPT Advisory Foundation for the establishment of Technical Support Unit (TSU).
Will help in the development of Greenfield Satellite Township
The main objective of this agreement is to accelerate the planned and sustainable development of the proposed Greenfield Satellite Township in Bihar. Plans related to modern urban planning, land use, infrastructure and spatial development will be prepared through the technical expertise of CEPT Advisory Foundation.
Minister Nitish Mishra said that technical cooperation will help in the development of new and modern urban areas in Bihar keeping in mind the future needs. He said that this initiative is an important step towards well-planned, sustainable and future-oriented urban development in the state.
Urban planning will be data based
The Technical Support Unit will provide necessary technical support to the department for data based and scientific urban planning. Under this, expert assistance will be provided in land use planning, infrastructure development and preparing long-term urban development strategy.
According to the minister, emphasis will be laid on developing greenfield satellite townships with better connectivity, modern infrastructure and environmental sustainability. Also, a plan will be made to develop facilities keeping in mind the needs of the citizens.
Officials signed the agreement
Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department Vinay Kumar was also present during the agreement. The agreement was signed by Naval Kishore Choudhary, Special Secretary-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Bihar Urban Development Authority and Darshan Parikh, Director, CEPT Advisory Foundation.
Nitish Mishra said that in line with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary's vision of a developed and prosperous Bihar, new urban areas are being developed keeping in mind the future needs of the state. He expressed hope that with the cooperation of a technical institution like CEPT, the urban development of the state can be given a more scientific and modern form.
