Taking a big step, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party has announced the names of its candidates on five seats regarding the Bihar Legislative Council elections. The party has fielded candidates in teacher and graduate constituencies. Among these, Afaq Ahmed has been fielded from Saran teachers seat, Divya Jyoti from Patna teachers seat and SP Rai from Darbhanga teachers seat.
Tezzbuzz Desk– Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore on Sunday announced the names of candidates for five seats of Bihar Legislative Council. Elections are proposed for a total of eight Legislative Council seats in Bihar. These include four graduates and four teachers constituencies. The tenure of the current members on these seats is going to end in November.
Afaq Ahmed's name is also included among the candidates announced by Prashant Kishore. He has been given a second chance from Saran Teachers Constituency. Afaq Ahmed had won the election from this seat about six years ago. At that time Prashant Kishore had supported him. At that time Prashant Kishore had not formed Jan Suraj Party.
Jan Suraj has made Divya Jyoti the candidate from Patna teachers constituency. Divya Jyoti is a lawyer and educationist by profession and recently joined Jan Suraj. At present, Janata Dal United's chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar is a member of the Legislative Council on the Patna teacher seat.
The party has given ticket to SP Rai from Darbhanga teachers constituency. Apart from this, Ravindra Yadav has been made candidate from Darbhanga graduate constituency and Rajneesh Ranjan has been made candidate from Kosi graduate constituency. In this way, Jan Suraj has made his election preparations clear on five seats.
During the announcement of the candidates, Prashant Kishore also talked about uniting the teachers. He said that Jan Suraj will work towards bringing different organizations of teachers on one platform and forming a joint struggle committee on their issues.
Prashant Kishore appealed to the teachers and said that about six lakh teachers should unite and fight for their rights and demands. Giving the example of the farmers' movement, he said that just as different farmers' organizations had come together and formed the Joint Struggle Committee, similarly efforts will be made to bring teachers' organizations on a common platform.
He said that Jan Suraj will try to fight with the teachers on their issues instead of limiting themselves to just asking for votes in the elections. The party says that teachers can become a part of this common platform even while working with their respective organizations.
The announcement of five candidates by Jan Suraj is being considered an important step in the preparations for the Bihar Legislative Council elections. Now the party's candidates will compete with candidates from other political parties on these seats.
