Bihari leaders Shatrughan Sinha-Kirti Azad became Mamata Banerjee’s shield, said – ‘Leaving Didi is betrayal’
New Delhi:After the results of West Bengal Assembly elections, the ruling Trinamool Congress is facing the biggest and serious internal political crisis in its history. The rebellious attitude of many old senior MLAs and MPs of the party has created a stir in the political circles.
Separate groups ready to open front
On one hand, while the dissatisfied leaders have formed a separate faction, opening a front against the leadership, on the other hand, amidst this all-round crisis, two top ‘Bihari’ faces of TMC, MP Shatrughan Sinha and Kirti Azad, have expressed their unwavering loyalty towards Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Both the veterans have made it clear that they are standing like a rock with ‘Didi’ in this difficult time.
I will not leave ‘Didi’ in times of trouble – Shatrughan Sinha
Lok Sabha MP from Asansol and former Union Minister Shatrughan Sinha has completely rejected all the speculations about his joining the rebel group. Putting an end to the ongoing speculations regarding his initial silence, Sinha said, I am completely with Mamata Banerjee in this hour of trouble and crisis. When I lost the election in 2019 after being denied ticket by BJP, very few people were with me. Mamta ji trusted me in that difficult time and gave me political shelter. It would be treacherous to leave them now in their difficult times.
‘Didi’ is a fighting leader
Making his stand clear on the lines of whip in Parliament, Sinha said in an emotional tone, I am issuing a three-line whip for myself, I was, am and will always be with Trinamool Congress and Mamata ji. I have no intention of going anywhere else. He clarified that the alleged letter of the rebel MPs does not bear his signature. Defending Mamata Banerjee on the party’s defeat in the assembly elections, he said that ‘Didi’ is a fighting leader and despite the adverse wave, TMC’s vote share in the state is still 41 percent.
Kirti Azad’s sharp attack
On the other hand, TMC MP from Bardhaman-Durgapur Kirti Azad has made a very sharp attack on the leaders who raised the flag of rebellion. Azad alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is breaking TMC leaders by threatening and luring the central investigative agencies. He compared the backstabbing rebels to ‘rats’ and ‘traitors’.
Only 13 MPs included
Rejecting the rebel group’s claim of support of 20 MPs, Azad revealed that only 13 MPs had attended the meeting of dissidents led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. Comparing Mamata Banerjee to a ‘wounded lioness’, Azad expressed confidence that she will overcome this crisis and come back stronger. At the same time, on the ongoing tension between senior leaders Kalyan Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, he said that Kalyan Banerjee is an emotional leader and Mamata Didi will soon resolve this internal dispute.
